The Pipercross Black Mamba is based on the famous Pipercross Viper carbon fibre air intake and uses velocity air force to supply a cold, dense supply of air into the engine.
Each Black Mamba air filter element is encased in high quality contoured carbon fibre with a flexible cold air feed attached to spun aluminium ram pipes and bell mouths, powder coated in a deep black finish.
- When positioned in an area of high air pressure, the cold air feed on a Pipercross Viper forces air straight into the 100mm diameter inlet, swirling it through a unique Pipercross multi-laminate air filter.
- At this stage, the carbon fibre heat shield prevents under-bonnet hot air from getting into the air intake - ensuring maximum power from oxygen-rich air.
- Beyond the carbon fibre heat shield, the air passes out of the filter unit through a ram pipe base which helps to further increase the pressure before it enters the engine's inlet manifold.
The reverse flow filter element and 150mm ram pipe base maximise the physical phenomenon of air moving towards a surface area, creating more airflow on the edge of the inlet than in the centre. The unique design of the filter cone and inlet tune the moving airflow to increase its speed and therefore its pressure thus promoting laminar airflow into the engine.
The physics may sound a little complicated but the increase in power and improved throttle response gained from a Pipercross Black Mamba against a standard vehicle air box will be immediately evident.
Just as obvious will be the distinctive looks of both the Black Mamba and the Pipercross Viper - the sealed air intake with the right combination of carbon fibre and alloy inlet will be the focal point of any engine bay.
The results speak for themselves - the Pipercross Viper has fast become the filter of choice for many of the worlds top builders of modified vehicles - used on both road and track. |
